Roast My Dinner

I am definitely going through a “roasting” phase! The oven is my new best friend. I had quite a late dinner considering it takes at least 35 min to roast vegetables. Bubster got home at 820pm, so that’s not a good sign. I had 3 x mandarin oranges to fill my tummy after pilates.

Dinner: Grill beef and roasted pumpkin, potatos, garlic, onion

Snack: 3 x mandarin oranges and fruit juice, a bite of Nutella on toast (not my sandwich!)

I did pilates – oh I always feel ultra-fresh after that. I did core, abs and buns – 10 min each. My abs were definitely trembling after. That’s good right? My body is getting more accustom to working out. My muscles don’t hurt so much. I definitely want to do evening yoga or at least 15 min of meditation later to calm my mind down.

OK back to the books. Dad’s birthday is tomorrow. I’ve to wish him tonight.

Bad Snack Confession

OK. I gave-in to not just one, but TWO bad snacks. I was hungry and I popped by the Korean supermarket below my building for my favourite Lotte Lemon Cheese and Cheese Stick. Ooh, that’s 225kcal!

Bah. I need to get with the program. Dinner won’t be ready for another hour or so. Need to fill up that tummy. I’ve got some Mandarin oranges but tummy is still a little acidic. Trying to stay away from the Vitamin C.

Breakfast: Cheese Sandwich, 1 x Banana

Lunch: Char Siew Rice, Guava

Bad Snacks: Lotte Lemon Cheese and Cheese Stick

OK, I’m going to do 30 min pilates right now!

Indigestion Sucks

Indigestion is no fun at all. I used to get it, not all the time but only when I get overexcited with food. I blame this one on the Mongolian beef and maybe Thai Tom Yum. I finally went to the pharmacy to get some tablets recommended by the pharmacist. They didn’t study 5 years for nothing. Eno didn’t work at all.

I went down to the pool for to study and also to swim. It was quite a hot day. I ran out of my Nivea Whitening Sunblock SPF55, so I used my Neutrogena SPF70 sunblock instead. Need to stock up. I made some mini egg sandwiches (considered it lunch) and brought some longan fruit down as well. I made some carrot milk as well with 3 x carrots. I love carrot milk, Bubster doesn’t.

We finally got to use our oven for the first time! Yes, it has been fixed. We roasted vegetables with our new Pyrex casserole plate. Nice. Dinner was light and good.

Tomorrow, I will start on pilates again. Back is hurting today, no idea why.

Lunch: 3 x mini egg sandwich

Snack: Longan – say 50g?, carrot milk drink

Dinner: Lemon pepper salmon steak, roasted vegetables (pumpkin, onion, garlic cloves, carrot) and cranberry kiwi juice.

It’s Just Another Sunday

Yesterday, Bubster and I didn’t have a ‘very’ healthy dinner. We made our way to Bukit Timah Rd and had Chinese dinner at Forture Seafood Restaurant. What did we order?

Dinner: Rice with Mongolian beef, deep fried squid and baby kailan with achar as appetiser!

Mongolian beef was soo good. It’s the best ever – tender, soft and spicy sauce that comes in a hot plate. YUM. Deep fried squid was not my pick – Bubster insisted of having them. I would have like to have fish head curry instead. Alright, this is not turning into a food blog!

Later, we head to a birthday celebration at Bar Bar, just along the same stretch as Forture. There was a rich chocolate cake from Jane’s Cake Station. I had a humble slice. Also, half a pint of Hoegaarden. Not exactly part of my diet plan but hey, you don’t turn 25 everyday no?

Bad Snack: Half a pint of Hoegaarden and a slice of chocolate cake.

Anyway I ended up with a bad indigestion case that kept me up till 3am. Not good, really. Thank gosh for Eno and Bubster, or I would have admitted myself to a 24-hour emergency clinic.

This morning, we walked to Plaza Singapura for breakfast at the Bratwurst Shop. I had the usual:

Breakfast: Two sunny-side ups, bacon strips, tomato, two slice of toast and an organic orange juice.

Healthy? Not too bad. Just a bit of grease. I shared my bacon with Bubster. We went shopping for groceries at Carrefour and I insisted on getting more fish. I should learn to steam fish, and now I remember – I need some ginger. Hmm. Oh well. We’re going for a swim soon. I noticed I look a little toner today – maybe because I haven’t had lunch yet. LOL.

Withdrawal Symptoms

Alright, I went out for lunch at Thai Express at Raffles City. It was a choice between Pizza and Thai food. I reckoned Thai was healthier. It was quite a tough choice when it comes to the menu. I picked Tom Yum Seafood Soup. I used to be a big fan of Tom Yum, but recently I kinda snubbed it because I found a new love for Vietnamese noodle soup.

Lunch was ultra spicy. I had ice water with it – but it wasn’t enough to put off the fire in my stomach. I let it burn burn burn. I contemplated having Hokey Pokey ice cream from New Zealand Natural but nahz, must stay away from sugar. I felt kinda sick after a couple of hours. Just walking home from Suntec City after the Singapore Toy and Comic Convention. I puked in my mouth – like just acidic stuff and had to rush to the toilet. Hmm… what’s going on? My body turned cold and I needed sugar.

I stopped by to get yoghurt from Bugis. Had a bad snack – 1 x crispy chicken karaage from Tori Q. Well, I felt better afterwards. My body must be in shock from having healthy food. I walked alot too under the hot sun – does that count as exercise?

The Beginning

Disclaimer: I am NOT FAT.

At least I don’t think I am. I have flabby bits here and there. My greatest enemy is cellulite. And, it is also my main motivator to start this blog. I have been exercising but not regularly. I know I need to shape up. Call it quarter-life crisis, but I’m hitting my 25th birthday next month. I realised my body is not like what it used to be. Sigh.

So, I made a pact with my friend yesterday that we shall motivate each other to stop snacking on sweets, donuts, Twisties, you name it. Basically, my biggest weakness at work is the VENDING MACHINE. I need to stay away from that mean machine because I’ve been eating all the Twisties in there.

Here, I vow to start incorporating healthy, boring food into my diet – watch what I eat and stop snacking on unhealthy processed food. I will also start exercising (hopefully, 4 times per week – except when I’m on holiday or having my period) and I will try all types of sports to see which fit me best. Here are my goals:

1. Get rid of my flabby tummy. And, minimise both fatty creases – where did that come from??

2. Slim those thighs and work on my perky ass. I like my ass, just need to get that Carmen Electra tautness.

3. Tone those arms – yes, give me Madonna, and Jennifer Garner (in her Elektra days).

Sounds simple, hurr? I bet it’s going to be a gruelling time for me and there will be days that I will cry. Haha. Let’s not kid myself ok? So, let’s start with today:

Breakfast: Healthy cooked oats with milk and brown sugar.

Then, I did 30 mins on the cross-trainer at the gym downstairs. I think I clocked about 1300 steps or something. I was bright pink by the time I’m done. Last Saturday, I could only managed 20 mins. So, it’s an improvement. I also increased one level of intensity.

Drink: Water and Berry Protein.

Fruit: 1 x Kiwi Fruit

Bad Snack: Reese Peanut Butter Cup – I couldn’t resist it! I only had one. It’s small.

That’s not bad for a Saturday right? Will be in touch.
